Let's talk about me!

With over 30 years of experience in international (food) retail and loyalty, I have witnessed several key changes in the industry. Being able to adapt to changing shopper behavior, I have successfully launched several initiatives and innovations in the retail scene. I have gained extensive international retail experience,  in various sales, marketing, and commercial positions. And I am ready to be involved in your (interim) relevant retail projects.

My friends call me a ‘chronicle optimist’ and I am determined to think about solutions. I am people-oriented and eloquent. Through my ability to speak various languages and my open personality, I easily connect with people. I have a positive sense of humor and I like to achieve goals as a team. I often use the word ‘glocal’: think global but act local. 

I have spoken at many events and hosted and developed multiple training, keynotes, master classes, and even a business simulation. During my over 16 years working at BrandLoyalty, I have been responsible for developing, designing, and organizing international events creating unique experiences for international clients, suppliers, and colleagues.

After I finished my Marketing and International Business Administration studies, I started my career on the shop floor at a Spanish retailer (El Arbol).  I could not have imagined how much this would affect my life in a positive way…..

As part of a management development program, I have worked for almost 8 years in Spain in different roles, varying from merchandise and marketing responsibilities to a purchaser's role, and from being involved in many mergers & acquisitions to being responsible for developing a completely new commercial store format opening up 5 stores successfully.

I continued working in The Netherlands for the supermarket chain “Super de Boer”, where I was fortunate enough to be the Operations Director for the entrepreneurs in the South of Holand.

I wanted to discover if there is more in life than food retail, so I became a Commercial Director at Quantore; a large international wholesale organization in office supply materials. After three years of growth and innovations in sales, marketing, and commercial format departments, I continued as an independent retail professional for the first time. When BrandLoyalty however approached me for an international retail role, with a close connection to Spain, I decided to join them in 2007 as a Sales Director. BrandLoyalty is a leading global provider of campaign-based loyalty campaigns. I had set myself the challenge to open up the Spanish market, bring loyalty campaigns to supermarkets in Spain, and broaden the loyalty business in different European countries such as Austria, Switzerland, and Belgium.

I realized that sharing my (retail) knowledge is something I am passionate about. I  feel comfortable speaking to larger groups, which I can do in several languages. I speak fluently English, Dutch, Spanish, and German.  I have spoken at many events and hosted and developed multiple trainings, keynotes, and master classes. 

I have gained tremendous experience in developing, designing, and organizing international events, creating unique experiences for international clients, suppliers, and colleagues. 

All my experiences and talents will be used to support retail organizations in their relevant retail projects; whether on an interim or project base. On my website, you'll find some of the work realized, projects I am involved with, or ideas on how to help others improve the retail experience.
